Momo
The comet
Small, bright, permanently in orbit. Steers between three rings and eats fruit.
Momo runs a fixed orbit around a small bright star, and the only decision is which of three rings to be in — inner, middle, outer. Everything else arrives on its own schedule: starfruit to gobble, glitch mines to miss, shields worth chasing.
Skimming a mine instead of eating it is worth more than playing safe, which is the whole tension. Near misses feed the charge meter, and a full meter buys a pulse that clears the screen — so the greedy line and the survivable line are the same line, right up until they are not.
The orbit cycles through named events that quietly rewrite the rules underneath you: fruit starts arriving in pairs, or the mines multiply and pay better for it.
