The Original
The echo that remembers everything
The others replay a fragment. This one has your whole run. It is immune, it pays triple, and when its span burns out it takes two of your echoes with it.
Ten sectors of your own history, out of order. Something is drafting in your contrail, and it remembers the whole run.
You fly a grid. Behind you, the storm spawns echoes — replays of the path you personally flew moments ago — and they keep coming until the arena is a knot of your own decisions. Outrunning them is not enough, because they know where you went.
The answer is the Echo Snap: cut your timeline and the trail they are chasing is trimmed to almost nothing. It has a long cooldown, so knowing when to forget yourself is most of the game.
Every fifty seconds or so time holds and deals you three cards — permanent mutations for the rest of the run. Some make you faster; DEVIL’S BARGAIN pays 1.6× score and brings the echoes twenty percent sooner.
Survive long enough and THE ORIGINAL arrives. It is immune, it pays triple, and unlike the rest it remembers your entire run rather than a fragment of it.
